It's fricken freezin in here, Mr. Bigglesworth! I refuse to put up the obligatory (ie. annoying) car thermometer picture so you all know how chilly it is here. It's winter. In Philadelphia. It gets flipping cold. Linking up again for The Friday Five

I hate to start off on such a somber note, but I figured better to start with this and end with something spectacular. A colleague from CHOP was brutally murdered in her Philadelphia home. She's not someone I knew well, but did consult on a handful of my patients and I had interactions with her. She seemed like a lovely woman and a doctor who truly cared about the patients she treated. You can read the entire story here. Kudos to the Philadelphia PD for their amazing work in making an arrest so quickly. As with any tragedy, I find it incredibly difficult to wrap my brain around what would cause someone to do something so deplorable. This one hits close to home. I pray that this quick arrest will help bring closure to her family, friends and my CHOP family. Rest In Peace, Dr. Ketunuti.

I'm in dire need of a new book to sink my teeth into. Any suggestions?

Flyers brought it, and FINALLY won a game! What makes the win even sweeter?? They beat the Rangers for the first time in over 2 years! Suck on that puck!

Philadelphia NBC 10 meteorologist Bill Henley started following me on Twitter yesterday. I have a big, geeky, science dork crush on him, so this totally rocks my socks.

This...
is happening.
And I will be there June 15.
I'm honestly not sure who I'm most excited to see.
Brie & I had New Kids on record. Yes, records. Remember those? We had every t-shirt, every pin, every keychain. We used to wear those giant buttons larger than our heads that would leave holes in our shirts... I loved how it had an easel so you could stand it up on your desk!
WHY DIDN'T I KEEP THEM?!?!?!?!
Ahhhh, Boyz II Men. Motown Philly was my JAM and I remember calling Star 104.5 (local Philly radio station in the early/mid 90's) Between The Sheets and having the DJ dedicate Boyz II Men songs to whatever boy was my crush that week.
Somewhere in a pile of tapes is a smooth crooning Christopher Knight saying "That was Water Runs Dry, for Jon & Marla."

I wish cool people were following me on twitter!! i mean you are... so that's cool. and motown philly was also my jam.
ReplyDeleteI love that you used to call into the radio!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome that you have a famous Twitter follower! Hey wait, do I follow you on Twitter? Leaving to go check.....
We called Star 104.5 like every single night. Nerds who thought we were cool. The worst! Did you find me? On twitter? I go through phases, I'll tweet a bunch for a day or two, then not tweet for 3 weeks.
DeleteThanks for linking up today!! And, yes I'm right there with you on the old hits from back in high school. Those were the jams! And I've see Boyz II Men when they came to Mississippi a few years back. It was a great performance! The weather folks here on the ABC network follow me and sometimes retweet my weather pictures. I get all giddy like a little school girls! Happy Friday!!!
ReplyDeleteI hate the freaking cold, and the freaking Rangers. Hatey hate hate hate.
ReplyDeleteSo, the guy who killed the CHOP doc graduated from high school with me. I don't remember him (we graduated with over 750 people), but I know his brother and hung out with the brother as recently as a year ago. Awful awful story, and for what? Nothing. Someone who does good for others died for nothing.
I'm so sorry about your colleague. What a horrific, senseless act.
ReplyDeleteI'm finding your through the Friday link up! I look forward to getting to know you more. I'm so sorry about the horrible death of your friend/coworker. I can't imagine how difficult that must be. I joined your blog and look forward to learning more about you!!
