Happy, Happy Friday, my loves!!! I don't know why I look forward to the weekends, it's not like I work. But either way, Happy Weekend!
I just got back home from dropping Princess Matzo Ball Honey Boo Boo Child off at the vet to get her lady bits removed. I cried. The vet techs were so nice to me, and assured me that we were doing what's best for her.
Through tears and snot, I agreed and thought back to a few weeks ago when I was upstairs quietly reading and I heard Hubby scream from downstairs "OH MY GOD, SHE MENSTRUATED ON THE COUCH!!!!"
Yup. Totally doing the right thing.
But, it was still hard for me to leave her in the hands of strangers. And I'm quite certain I could hear Sarah MacLachlan's "Angel" playing in the background as Matzo Ball gave me a sad, pathetic stare.
Then I had to rush off to LabCorp to get my blood drawn. 9 vials.
Good times, my friends. Good times.

My favorite picture of Princess Matzo Ball Honey Boo Boo Child
Eyeing up the coffee and crumb cake. I taught her well.
Yesterday I had my rheumatologist appointment, followed by my poison infusion. Hubby went with me, which put me at ease. I was so grateful he was there, especially when I know he is extremely busy at work. His phone was ringing every 5 seconds, and he ignored it. He may have bought me the wrong color Coach bag (I exchanged it) for the holidays, but lately, he's been stepping up when it counts. And for that, I love him! (it helps that he's super cute, too!)
I received confirmation of what I already knew; the lupus has greatly affected my lungs. As if I hadn't figured it out due to the fact that I can't walk up my stairs without getting short of breath. But still... fucking sucks. Unfortunately, the pulmonary tests I had a few weeks ago only show there is a problem, it doesn't diagnose the problem. So, there will be more tests in the upcoming weeks to hopefully pinpoint the cause.
And until then, that leaves me on my own to hit up The Googles, do some research and hit up my nursing textbooks. Sometimes I feel my medical background is detrimental because I know too much. I'm fairly certain, in some cases, ignorance is bliss.
My infusion went smoothly. The nurses get a kick out of me because the benedryl premed makes me extremely giggly at first. Holding a conversation with me is like trying to speak to a six-year-old. I just stare blankly, and then giggle.
I was excited to have my infusion for one reason only. A co-worker of mine, Carlee, sent me the coolest. thing. ever. Since I get my infusions through an implanted port in my chest, I can't wear hoodies or zip-up sweatshirts. And don't ask me why, but they keep the temperature in the infusions rooms, like -4 degrees. As if we all don't have enough problems, we are gonna get frostbite and lose a limb.
Ahem.
Moving right along, I always complain how cold I get. I can't really stay covered since the nurses need to easily get to my port.
A few weeks ago, I was surprised with a package at my door. Carlee had a customized fleece for chemo patients made for me so I can keep my dignity by staying covered, and not freezing off my lady lumps! The neckline opens enough so the nurses can access the port, and the sleeve has a hidden zipper at the top for the IV tubing.

Genius. Why don't I think of these things???

You poor, poor thing. Having to go through that AND take your kitty to the vet to be fixed!!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel from when we had to take Kitty Purry to be fixed. They had to keep her overnight too - do they do that at your vet?? It was torture and I was so sad without her. Hang in there chicky, she will be a-okay!
Even though the little wretch chewed on my Jimmy Choo's, I still love her so! It feels so empty in my house without her here.... They aren't keeping her overnight, we can pick her up later tonight after they call.
Deleteoh my god about your cat. and infusions are poison! love the custom fleece idea
